Motion Detection Settings

You can configure motion detection settings on any connected camera using the Lorex Cirrus app.

Note: Available settings may differ by recorder. Some of the settings listed here may not appear on all recorders.

Configure the following as needed.

  1. Sensitivity: Tap to select a sensitivity level for motion events. The lower the sensitivity value, the more movement is required to trigger motion detection.
  2. Detection: Tap to choose a detection type, either OFF, Motion, or Person.
  3. Area Setting: Tap to adjust where motion is detected on your camera’s view.
A blue grid overlay will appear on the image to indicate areas where motion detection is enabled. Adjusting the grid:

    • Tap to remove blue areas (turning them off). Drag your finger over the grid to disable detection in specific areas.

    • Tap again to re-enable motion detection in those areas.

            Options menu (top right):

  • Clear: Removes the entire blue overlay, letting you start fresh.
  • Select All: Highlights the entire grid for full motion detection.
  • Refresh: Resets the grid to its default settings.
  • Save: Confirms your changes.

Note: Motion detection will be disabled for areas without the blue overlay. Only motion which occurs in the blue overlay will trigger motion detection. Disabling motion detection in certain areas of the image is an effective way to eliminate unwanted recordings and notifications, such as those caused by trees blowing in the wind or street traffic seen through a window.

  1. Distance Setting: Tap to configure distance setting for motion detection. Change the distance setting if motion detection is being triggered by unwanted events.
  2. Siren Duration: Choose how long the camera siren will sound when motion is detected. Tap to set a duration (up to 60 seconds) to have the siren activate when motion is detected or select OFF to disable the siren completely.

Note: Remember to tap Save to apply any changes.

  • Use one finger to add / remove hours from a recording schedule.
  • Use two fingers to slide up and down.

  4. Colored Bars: Indicate when motion recording is enabled:
    • Yellow: Motion-based recording
    • Green: Continuous recording (if supported)
    • By default, motion recording is enabled at all times.
