This article illustrates the functions and capabilities of the Home tab in the Lorex app.
Navigating to the Home Tab
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the
button in the bottom right of the screen. You have now navigated to the Home Tab.
Home Screen Controls
Within the Home screen there are buttons to quickly change the settings of your cameras.
Lorex Store: Tap to open www.lorex.ca to purchase more devices.
Add Devices: Tap to connect cameras and NVRs.
Footage Buttons
Play: Open the camera's live view.

Privacy Mode: Instantly tilt the camera to cover the lens, stopping all recording for added privacy. Tap again to disable Privacy Mode.

Snooze Alerts: Access snooze options and temporarily disable notifications. Choose from durations such as 30 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours, All day, or Turn Off Alerts.
Device Settings: Configure individual device settings.
Wired Cameras only
Live View: Tap to view all footage of cameras connected to your NVR at once.
Add Device: Tap to add a Fusion device to your NVR and follow the setup instructions.
Scroll View: Thumbnails side-by-side with horizontal scrolling.
Grid View: Devices displayed in a grid format.
Stacked View: Devices listed vertically, one above another.

Light (SL300 Lightbulb Camera Only): Tap to turn the light On/Off. Adjust the brightness using the slider below the Light button.
Connecting to the Lorex App
To use the Lorex App, you must connect it with your camera or NVR.
- Launch the Lorex App.
- Tap the
button in the bottom left of the screen.
- Tap
and tap OK.
- Tap Scan QR Code.
- Scan your device’s QR code or manually enter the Device ID.
- Tap Next.
- Enter the Device Password.
- Tap
to enable Audio Recording, then tap Next.
- Tap
to enable Alert and Event Thumbnails, then tap Next.
- Choose a device name from the presets provided or type a new name in. Choose a Time Zone, and tap
to enable Daylight Savings Time, select a start and end date for daylight savings time, tap Time Format to select how the date will be displayed. Tap Next to continue.
- Tap Learn more to sign up for Lorex Cloud Storage or tap Not Now to skip this step.
- You have now connected your device to the Lorex app!
Device Settings - Wired Cameras
Navigating to Device Settings
- Launch the Lorex app.
- In the Home Screen, tap
in your NVR’s thumbnail.
- Tap … to open your NVR’s Settings.
- Tap Device Info to view Device Model, Device ID, Mac Address, IP Address, Device Storage, and Device Label, and to change Device Name and Device Password. To change your NVR’s password, input your old device password, then input and confirm your new device password before tapping Save to confirm.
- Tap Firmware to view the Current Version of your NVR’s firmware.
- Tap Notifications and tap
to enable Offline Notifications. This will send a push notification when a device goes offline or is disconnected from the network.
- Tap
to enable Local Recording, which will enable footage to be saved locally to your recorder, as well as on the Lorex app.
- Tap Shared Users > Add User > input the email address of the shared user and configure the following settings before tapping Confirm to save.

Shared Users on the Lorex App for more information. - Tap Time Zone to change it, enable/disable and set Daylight Savings Time, change the way time is formatted, and tap Save to confirm.
- Tap Reboot Device to restart your NVR.
- Tap Remove Device to disconnect your NVR from the Lorex App.
- Tap
to speak through the intercom in your camera if he connected camera has a speaker, you can use this to speak through the app, allowing the person near the camera to hear you. This is a one-way talk feature, meaning you can send audio to the camera, but you won't hear a response back through the app.
- Tap
to connect more Fusion cameras, follow the in-app instructions to complete connection.
- Tap on a camera to navigate to your camera’s live view page.
- Tap … to navigate to your camera’s settings.
- Tap Device Info to view Device Photo, and Device Model. Tap Channel Name and type in a new name to change it.
- Tap Firmware to view the Current Version of your NVR.
- Tap Notifications:
- Alert Notifications: Toggle the switch

to enable or disable alerts.
- Notification Schedule: Set specific times during the day to receive alerts, then tap Save.
- Alert and Event Thumbnails: Include thumbnail images with notifications for a quick preview.
- Offline Notifications: Enable alerts when your camera goes offline.
- Alert Notifications: Toggle the switch
- Tap Motion Detection Settings:
- Motion Detection: Toggle the switch

to enable or disable motion detection.
- Person, Vehicle, Animal, Package, Package Removed, and Face Detection: Enable specific detection types to focus on people or vehicles.
- Motion Sensitivity: Adjust the sensitivity level from 1 (less) to 5 (more). Higher levels detect smaller movements but may result in more notifications.
- Use Motion Zones to focus on specific areas within the camera’s view for motion detection. (Depending on your camera model) You can draw your motion zone to target specific areas in view. Tap
to clear the motion zone completely,
to invert the motion zones and highlight the opposite section, and
to erase the motion zone manually.
- Motion Detection: Toggle the switch
- Tap Light Settings.
Tap Activate Light on Smart Motion, Tap on Person, Vehicle, Animal, Package, Package removed, or Face Detection, and tap
to enable Deterrence light, Smart Security Lighting, and Color Night Vision Booster. Tap Save to confirm.
Tap Smart Security Lighting Modes. Select Working, Party, Panic, or Custom Mode. Within custom mode you can select which days, times, Light Color, Light Mode, and Light Brightness you would like for up to six schedules. Tap Save to confirm.
- Tap Night Vision Mode and choose between Enhanced Color Night Vision, Standard Color Night Vision, or Forced Color Night Vision. Tap Save to confirm.
Tap
to enable Auto Framing. This will cause the camera to zoom in and follow the subject through the frame.
Tap Siren Settings.
- Tap
to enable Person, Vehicle, Animal, Package, Package Removed, and / or Mask Detection.
- Tap Edit Schedule > the desired day > select when to Repeat the schedule, start time, end time, and tap + Add new schedule to add more scheduled time that the siren will play within, per day. Tap Save to confirm.
- Tap
- Tap Quick Responses to select one of the preset responses, or tap + to record a new one by holding down the middle button.
- Tap
to enable Audio Recording and / or Image Rotation.
Device Settings - Smart Home Cameras
Navigating to Device Settings
- Launch the Lorex app.
- In the Home Screen, tap
in your camera’s thumbnail.
- Tap … to open your camera’s Device Settings.
- Tap Device Info
- Tap Device Photo to change the device photo to change it to an Auto Snapshot or a Custom Photo that you take or select from an album.
- Tap Device Name and type in a new name before tapping Save to confirm.
- Tap Channel Name and type in a new name before tapping Save to confirm.
- The Device Model, Device ID, Mac Address, IP Address, and Device Storage are listed here.
- Tap Device Label to view your camera’s QR code, Device Model, and Device ID.
- Tap Device Password > input your old password and the desired new password > Tap Save to change your password.
- Tap Firmware to view the current version of your camera.
- Tap Notifications. For additional information please visit Lorex App: How to Enable Notifications.
- Tap
to enable Alert Notifications, Alert and Event Thumbnails, Offline Notifications, and Battery Alerts.
- Tap Notification Schedule to select a start and end time in which you will receive notifications. Tap Save to confirm.
- Tap Motion Detection Settings:
- Motion Detection: Toggle the switch

to enable or disable motion detection.
- Person and Vehicle Detection: Enable specific detection types to focus on people or vehicles.
- Auto-Tracking: Enable the camera to automatically follow moving objects.
- Motion Sensitivity: Adjust the sensitivity level from 1 (less) to 5 (more). Higher levels detect smaller movements but may result in more notifications.
- Use Motion Zonesto focus on specific areas within the camera’s view for motion detection. (Depending on your camera model) Create zones for:
- General Motion (Available for all models)
- Person Detection
- Vehicle Detection
You can draw your motion zone to target specific areas in view. Tap to clear the motion zone completely,
to invert the motion zones and highlight the opposite section, and
to erase the motion zone manually.
- Tap Video Settings and tap to enable HDR (High Dynamic Range). HDR optimizes video picture in high-contrast conditions such as under-lit or over-lit areas.
- Tap Sound Settings to select Speaker Volume and Microphone Volume between 1 and 5. Tap Save to confirm. Microphone Volume adjusts the microphone sensitivity for clearer audio when using two-way talk or recording. Increasing the Microphone Volume enhances sound sensitivity.
- Tap Device Storage to view the amount of storage left on your camera.
- Tap Local Recording Settings and tap
to enable Local Recording.
- Tap Light Settings
- Tap
to enable Active Deterrence Light on Detection.
- Tap Light Mode to choose between Solid and Flashing, tap Save to confirm.
- Tap Light Brightness to select a brightness between 1 and 4, and tap Save to confirm.
- Tap Edit Schedule > the desired day > select when to Repeat the schedule, start time, end time, and tap + Add New Schedule to add multiple scheduled times for the siren to play each day. Tap Save to confirm.

to enable Active Auto Response upon event.
- Tap Response Message to choose between messages and tap Save to confirm.

to enable Auto Night Vision.
- Tap Shared Users > Add User > input the email address of the shared user and configure the following settings before tapping Confirm to save.

- Tap Wireless Network to select a new Wi-Fi network to connect to, enter the password, and tap Save to confirm.
- Tap
to enable Status LED.
- Tap
to enable Image Rotation.
- Tap Time Zone to change Time Zone, enable/disable and set Daylight Savings Time, change the way time is formatted, and tap Save to confirm.
- Tap Reboot Device > Reboot to restart your camera.
- Tap Remove Device and confirm by tapping it again to remove your cameras from the Lorex app.
Live View Screen
Once in Live View, you’ll see:
- Live Video Feed: Watch the camera’s real-time footage.
- Toolbar: Pause, change layouts, adjust video quality, toggle audio, or go full screen.
- Quick Action Buttons: Capture snapshots, record video, turn on/off the light, or activate privacy mode.
- Pan Tilt Zoom Cameras only: Tap
and hold down an arrow to move your PTZ camera in that direction.
Toolbar
The Live View Toolbar provides quick access to essential controls for managing your smart lightbulb camera's video feed. Here’s a breakdown of each button:
- Pause/Play: Pause or resume the live video feed.
- Camera Layout: Switch between different camera layouts. For single-camera setups, it defaults to single-camera mode.
- Video Quality (SD): Adjust the video quality to 2K, 1080P, 720P, SD (Standard Definition), and Auto for optimized performance.
- Mute/Unmute: Turn the audio on or off.
- Full screen: Expand the live view to full screen for a better viewing experience.
View Events & Timeline
The View Events tab displays a list of all motion-detected recordings saved by your camera. Tap this tab to see a detailed list of events, filter by date using the calendar, and replay or save any recording instantly. This view is perfect for quickly finding specific events.
The Timeline tab organizes recordings in a scrollable, chronological format, showing when each event occurred. You can choose between recordings saved to an SD card, or within your Lorex Cloud Subscription. Simply scroll through the timeline to locate and replay events from a specific time. It’s great for reviewing footage with a time-focused perspective.

Quick Action Buttons
These buttons let you interact with your smart lightbulb camera in real time.
Located above the live view:
- [
] Shared Users: Grant access to others and control their permissions. (Requires the person to have a Lorex app account.)
- [
] Device Settings: Access the camera’s settings menu.
Located below the live view:
Snapshot: Capture a quick image of the live view.
Record Video: Manually start and stop video recording.
Talk: Use the camera’s speaker to talk to whoever is in front of it.
Siren: Activate the siren for immediate attention. Tap again to stop, or let it turn off automatically after 10 seconds.
Lightbulb:Turn the camera’s light on or off. One of three options will appear when this button is tapped:
- SL300 Lightbulb Camera: Adjust the brightness using the slider below the button.
- Wired Cameras: Tap the left button to dim the light, and the right to brighten it.
- Smart Home Cameras: Tap the lightbulb button to turn it on, and again to turn it off.
- SL300 Lightbulb Camera: Adjust the brightness using the slider below the button.
Quick Response: Send a pre-recorded message by selecting one from the available list.
Privacy Mode: Instantly stop all recording for added privacy.
Using Pan & Tilt Controls and Setting Camera Presets (PTZ Cameras Only)
Easily control the camera’s view and save preset positions for quick access.
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the live view of your smart lightbulb camera.
- Tap the Pan & Tilt button
to access the controls.
- Use the on-screen arrows to tilt up/down or pan left/right.
To Set a Preset:
- Move the camera to the desired view.
- Tap the Add button
, name your preset, and save it.
- Access saved views from the Presets tab. Tap a preset to instantly move the camera to that position.
- To make changes to saved presets, tap the Edit button
.
