This article explains how to view live footage and recorded videos from your Lorex Pro App.

Live View
How to Access Live View
You have two main ways to start live viewing your cameras:
1 - From the Home Screen
- Open the Lorex Pro App.
- Locate your device listed on the Home screen.
- Tap the Play button (
) above the camera thumbnails to open live view for that recorder.
2 - From the Live View Button
- Open the Lorex Pro App.
- On the Home screen, tap the Live View button (
Live) at the top of the screen.
- Select the devices you want to include.
- Tap Start Live View to load live footage from all selected recorders.
Live View Features
Once in live view, you have full control over how your cameras display.
Stream Controls
Located below each live video feed:
- Pause/Resume (
): Pause or resume live streaming.
- Main/Sub Stream (
): Switch between higher resolution (Main Stream) and smoother performance (Sub Stream).
- Mute/Unmute (
): Turn audio on or off for cameras that support audio.
- Channel Selection (
): Expand 4, 9, or 16 camera channels at once.
- Swipe Left/Right: Switch between different groups of cameras if you have more than 16 channels.
- Full Screen (
): Expand live view to full screen.
- Snapshots and Recordings Album (
): Tap to access the Snapshots and Recording album.
- Playback (
): Access the playback timeline for the current device.
- Snapshot (
): Capture still image from live feed; saved in Snapshots album.
- Talk (
): Activate two-way talk using your phone's microphone and camera speaker.
- Record (
): Manually start and stop recording; saved to Recordings folder.
- Pause Stream (
): Stop the live viewing for all active channels.
Hidden Controls
Tap the arrow button () below the video panel to reveal:
- Favorite (
): Add the active camera to your Favorites list for quick access.
- PTZ (
Pan-Tilt-Zoom): Access pan, tilt, and zoom controls for supported PTZ cameras.
- Light (
): Turn deterrence light on or off (if supported).
- Siren (
): Activate built-in camera siren (if supported).
Events Controls
- Camera Events View: See motion or smart detection events below the live feed.
- Calendar (
): Select specific dates to browse past events quickly.
- Event List: View event types (motion, person, vehicle) with time stamps.
- Red dot means the event has not been viewed yet.
- Red dot means the event has not been viewed yet.
Taking Snapshots & Recordings
- Tap Snapshot (
) to save images.
- Tap Record (
) to manually capture video.
- Files save to Snapshots and Recordings album under Settings.
Playback
How to Access Playback
You have two ways to access playback footage:
1 - From the Home Screen
- Open the Lorex Pro App.
- Tap the Playback button (
) at the top of the Home screen.
2 - From Live View
- Select a camera you're watching in live view.
- Tap the Playback button (
) directly under that camera's live feed.
Playback Features
Once you're on the Playback screen:
- You'll see 4 empty camera slots.
- Tap the Add Camera button (
) inside any slot.
- Choose your recorder and select cameras to add to playback.
Playback Controls

- Play/Pause (
/
): Start or stop video playback.
- Playback Speed (
): Adjust speed from 0.125x to 8x.
- Frame-by-Frame (
): Move forward one frame at a time.
- Mute/Unmute (
): Control audio playback.
- Full Screen (
): View playback in full screen.
- Snapshot (
): Capture still image from playback footage.
- Record (
): Record a portion of the playback manually.
- Scissors Tool (
): Clip a segment of footage and save it to the Snapshots & Recordings folder.
Playback Filtered Search

- Tap the Date to open the calendar.
- Apply filters to select Recording Type: All, Continuous, Alarm, Motion, Smart Detection.
- After selecting date/type, tap OK to load footage.
- Tap the Video Clip List button (
) to display individual event recordings for easier navigation.
Playback Timeline Bar

- Pinch to Zoom: Zoom in/out to narrow or widen time view.
- Swipe Left/Right: Scroll through footage across time.
Exiting Playback
Tap the Home button () in the top left corner to return to the Home screen.
