What to Do Before Selling or Transferring Lorex Devices to a New Owner

Modified on Wed, Jun 18 at 10:27 AM

This article applies to: Lorex Devices and the Lorex App.

If you plan to sell or transfer your Lorex devices to a new owner, please follow the steps below to ensure a smooth handover:

These steps are essential to allow the new owner to successfully set up the devices under their own Lorex account. If these actions are not completed, the new user may encounter issues during the setup process.

Deleting the Lorex app or canceling your Lorex Cloud subscription does not transfer or release ownership of the device.

If you're the new owner and are having trouble setting up Lorex devices that were transferred to you, please reach out to the previous owner and ask them to complete the necessary steps.

If you're the previous owner and no longer use Lorex devices, you may need to reinstall the Lorex app to complete the following steps.

Step 1: Remove the device from a Lorex Cloud Storage plan

Proceed with this step if the device is currently attached, or ever was attached, to a Lorex Cloud Storage plan.

  1. Go to https://cloud.lorex.com/.
  2. Login using your Lorex Account credentials.
  3. Open the subscription plan to which the device is/was attached to.
  4. Click on Modify Plan.
  5. Uncheck the device.
  6. Click on Apply Changes.

Step 2: Remove the device from your Lorex App Account

Be sure to download and save any important video footage before removing the device from your account.

  1. Open the Lorex App.
  2. Tap the camera's Device Settings button [].
  3. Scroll down and tap Remove Device.
  4. Confirm the removal by selecting Remove Device

Step 3: Factory reset the device

The reset process may vary depending on your device model. Please refer to the specific instructions for your Lorex product.
