Which Lorex battery cameras are compatible with the solar panel?

The solar panel is designed to work with most Lorex battery-operated cameras. For a complete and up-to-date list of compatible models, please refer to the Lorex Compatibility Chart.

How do I install the solar panel?

Refer to the solar panel's installation guide for full details.

How do I know if the solar panel is charging my camera?

  1. Open the Lorex app connected to your battery-operated camera.
  2. Go to your camera’s live view or device settings.
  3. Look at the battery icon:
    • If the battery is fully charged, you'll see a checkmark icon.
    • If the battery is currently charging, you'll see a lightning bolt (⚡) icon.

Can the solar panel fully recharge a depleted battery camera?

No. The solar panel is designed to maintain the battery camera's level, not to recharge it from 0%. Always fully charge your battery camera using the provided USB cable before connecting the solar panel.

Will It Work in Cold or Rainy Weather?

Yes. The solar panel is IP65-rated and works between -4°F to 149°F (-20°C to 65°C).

However, less sun in winter may affect performance. Adjust tilt angle to capture more light.

How should I position the solar panel for optimal performance?

  • In the Northern Hemisphere, angle the panel to face south.
  • In the Southern Hemisphere, angle it to face north.
  • Adjust the tilt angle seasonally to match the sun's position for maximum efficiency.

Is the mounting bracket adjustable?

Yes. The included mounting bracket is fully adjustable. You can tilt and rotate the solar panel to face direct sunlight for maximum efficiency. Use the Adjustment Ring to easily set and lock the angle based on the season or your location.

What should I do if the solar panel isn't charging my camera?

Follow these steps:

  • Ensure the solar panel is receiving direct sunlight.
  • Verify all cable connections are secure.
  • Clean the solar panel surface.
  • Reduce camera activity if it's draining the battery faster than the solar panel can recharge it.

How do I know which cable connector to use for my battery camera?

To determine the correct connection method:

  1. Open the power port cover on your battery camera.
  2. Identify the power port type by its shape:

    • If the port is rounded and larger, it's a USB-C port.
    • If the port is smaller and flat, it's a Micro-USB port.
  3. Connect the solar panel cable:
    • For USB-C port: Plug the solar panel's cable directly into the battery camera.
    • For Micro-USB port: First attach the included Micro-USB Adapter to the solar panel cable, then plug it into the battery camera.

Do I Need to Clean the Solar Panel?

Yes. Dirt, pollen, and debris reduce efficiency. Clean the surface with a soft cloth and water every few weeks. Avoid soap or chemicals.
