Here are answers to the most common questions about your FL301 Series - 2K Floodlight Wi-Fi Security Camera - from installation and app features to Wi-Fi, detection, and storage.

Installation and Setup 

How do I set up the floodlight camera?

For complete step-by-step setup instructions, including mounting and connecting to the Lorex Connect app, please refer to the Installation Guide.


Where can I find the Device ID?

You can locate the Device ID in two ways: 

  • On the device itself: Look for a label with a QR code and the Device ID number printed underneath it.
  • In the Lorex Connect app: Tap the Home icon > More options menu > Settings > Device info > Device ID.


How do I connect or change Wi-Fi? 

  • Open the Lorex Connect app. Tap the Home icon > More options menu > Settings > Device info > Wi-Fi network.
     
  • Select your Wi-Fi, enter the password, and tap Continue.


What do the status LED lights mean?

Solid RedThis means your floodlight camera is on but hasn't been set up or connected to the Lorex Cloud yet.
Solid Red (while resetting)This means a factory reset is in progress.
Flashing GreenThis means your floodlight camera is ready to set up or is connecting to the Lorex Cloud.
Flashing RedThis means your floodlight camera is connected to Wi-Fi but can't reach the internet. Check your router or modem.
Solid GreenThis means your floodlight camera is working normally. (You can turn the light off in the Lorex Connect app if you prefer.)
Flashing Red & GreenThis means a firmware update is in progress. Keep the floodlight camera powered on until it finishes.


How do I reset the floodlight camera?

The reset button is located on the bottom of the floodlight camera, next to the speaker. The floodlight camera must be powered on for the reset to work.

  1. Press and hold the reset button until you hear the audio prompt and the status LED turns red. 
  2. Release the button and wait for the floodlight camera to restart.
Note: After resetting, you’ll need to set up the floodlight camera again in the Lorex Connect app.


How do I replace the MicroSD card?

Depending on the package purchased, a MicroSD card may or may not be included. Supports up to 256 GB.

  1. Use the included screwdriver to remove the two screws on the MicroSD compartment, located on the bottom of the floodlight camera next to the speaker.
  2. Insert a MicroSD card into the slot until it clicks into place.
  3. Replace the compartment cover and tighten both screws.
  4. Power on the floodlight camera and confirm in the Lorex Connect app that the MicroSD card is detected.


What MicroSD card is supported?

Up to 256 GB MicroSD (V10, FAT32). 

To format: Home icon > More options menu > Settings > Storage > Format storage

Live View and Playback

How do I view my floodlight camera? 

  • Open the Lorex Connect app > Home > Tap the floodlight camera thumbnail.


How do I pan the floodlight camera in Live View? 

  1. Open the Lorex Connect app > Home > Tap the floodlight camera thumbnail.
  2. Tap the Pan button below the video feed to display directional arrows.
     
  3. Tap the arrows to move the floodlight camera left or right. 
  4. To save a view, tap Save preset
  5. To return the floodlight camera to its default position, tap Reset pan
Note: Panning only adjusts the floodlight camera’s field of view horizontally. It does not tilt up or down.


How do I play back recordings?

  • From Live View, tap Playback, or
  • From Home, tap the Playback button.


How do I use Smart Search? 

  1. From Live View, go to Playback >  Smart Search, or tap the Smart Search button from Home.
  2. Type a question (For example, “When did the kids get home?”).


Recording

How do I manually record video? 

  • While in Live View, tap the Record button under the video. 
  • Recording continues until you tap Record again to stop. 
  • Saved videos can be found in the App settings > Snapshots & recordings album.


How do I take a snapshot? 

  • While in Live View, tap the Snapshot button under the video. 
  • Saved images can be found in the App settings > Snapshots & recordings album.


How do I use Privacy Mode? 

Privacy Mode temporarily stops your floodlight camera from recording video. 

  • To turn it on: Tap the Privacy Mode button on the floodlight camera thumbnail (Home tab). 
  • The floodlight camera thumbnail will turn black, and recording stops. 
  • Tap again to turn Privacy Mode off and resume recording.


How do I save a video clip?

You can save video clips directly from Live View, Playback, or Events in the Lorex Connect app. 

  1. While watching a video, tap the Download button. 
  2. Choose where to save the file (your phone’s gallery, Files app, or another location depending on your device).


Note: If your camera uses a MicroSD card, recordings are stored locally. Cloud subscribers can also download videos from cloud storage.


Groups and Sharing

How do I create a group?

  1. Go to Home > More options menu > Add to group.
  2. Enter a Group name
  3. Under Devices, select floodlight cameras to include Save
  4. Adjust Group light settings (activation, sensitivity, brightness, schedule).


How do I share my floodlight camera? 

  1. Home > More options menu > Share device, or App settings > Shared users.
  2. Enter the user’s email. 
  3. Assign Admin (full access) or Guest (view only). 
  4. Tap Send invite.


How do I manage shared users? 

  • Go to App settings > Shared users.
  • Change permissions, edit nicknames, remove users, or cancel invites. 


Detection and Notifications 

How do I set up Motion or Person Detection? 

  1. Go to Home > More options menu  Settings > Detection settings.
  2. Turn on Motion detection or Person detection
  3. Adjust Sensitivity (Low, Medium, High) and Motion Zones.
  4. Tap Save


How do I set Motion Zones? 

  1. Detection settings > Motion zones.
  2. Tap Add to draw a zone.
  3. Drag points to resize, drag the box to move. 
  4. Use DeleteUndoFullscreen if needed. 
  5. Tap Save.


How do I set up Sound Detection? 

  1. Go to Home> More options menu  Settings > Sound detection.
  2. Adjust Sensitivity with the slider to make detection more or less responsive. 
  3. You can also toggle Activate light on sound to turn on the floodlights when sound is detected.


How do I set alerts? 

  1. Go to Home> More options menu  Settings > Notifications and alerts.
  2. Toggle Alerts on/off. 
  3. Choose detection alerts (Person, Sound, Device Offline). 
  4. Enable Event and notification images for thumbnail previews.
  5. Set an Alert tone and Notification schedule.


How do I view events (alerts)?

  1. Go to Events at the bottom of the app.
  2. Select a floodlight camera to view its event list.
  3. Tap an event thumbnail to open playback.


Lighting 

Do the floodlights work with motion?

You can set floodlights to turn on when motion or a person is detected.

  1. Go to Home> More options menu  Settings > Light settings > Light activation.
  2. Choose All Motion or Person.
  3. Adjust Detection sensitivity, Light brightness, Light mode (Solid/Flashing), Light duration.


Can I adjust the floodlight brightness? 

Yes. In the Lorex Connect app, go to Home> More options menu  Settings > Light settings > Light activation and use the Light brightness slider. 


Can I schedule the floodlights to turn on or off automatically?

Yes, you can create custom schedules or use Sunrise/Sunset.

  1. Go to Home> More options menu  Settings > Light settings > Light schedule.
  2. Tap + Add a schedule.
     
  3. Select Action (On/Off), Fade duration, Days, and Time/Sunrise/Sunset
  4. Tap Save. 


How do I turn off the status LED? 

  1. Go to Home> More options menu  Settings > Light settings > Status LED.
  2. Toggle the switch off to disable the small LED indicator light. 
Note: The status LED shows important states (like setup, updates, or errors). Turning it off won’t affect camera performance, but you won’t see visual status signals.


Audio and Siren 

How do I turn on 2-Way Talk? 

  • In Live View, tap the Talk button.


How do I adjust audio? 

  • Go to Home> More options menu  Settings > Audio settings.
  • Adjust Speaker volume, Microphone sensitivity, or toggle Audio RecordingOn/Off.
    Warning: Audio recording laws vary by region. Always ensure compliance with local regulations.


How do I control the siren? 

  • In Live View, tap Siren
  • or adjust Siren volume and Siren tone in Settings > Siren settings.


Storage 

Where are my recordings stored? 


How do I check or format storage? 

  • Go to Home> More options menu  Settings > Storage.
     
  • View available space or tap Format storage.
    Warning: Formatting or resetting storage will erase all recordings on the microSD card. Once deleted, they cannot be recovered.


Device and Account Management 

How do I change my floodlight camera’s password? 

  1. Go to App Settings > Account Settings > Privacy & Security > Update Password
  2. Enter your current password, then create a new one. 
    • A 6-digit code will be sent to your email for confirmation.


How do I change my device name?

  1. Go to Go to Home> More options menu  Settings > Device info > Device name
  2. Enter the new name (for example “Backyard Floodlight”) and tap Save.


How do I log out of the Lorex Connect app?

  1. Go to App settings (bottom menu). 
  2. Scroll down and tap Log Out.
Note: Logging out does not delete your account or devices.


How do I remove the device from my account?

  1. Go to Go to Home> More options menu  Settings > Device info > Remove device.
  2. Confirm to unlink the floodlight camera from your Lorex Connect account.


How do I delete my Lorex Connect account?

  1. Go to App Settings > Account Settings > Privacy & Security.
  2. Tap Delete Account and follow the on-screen prompts.
Warning: Deleting your account is permanent and will remove access to all devices.

Does it have Color Night Vision? 

Yes, if there’s enough ambient light. Otherwise it switches to infrared. 


What’s the operating temperature? 

-4°F to 122°F (-20°C to 50°C)


What detection types does the floodlight camera support?

The FL301 supports: 

  • Motion detection: Detects general movement. 
  • Person detection: Detects people specifically. 
  • Sound detection: Detects loud or unusual sounds. 
  • Auto-Tracking: Pans the floodlight camera to follow people in view. 

You can adjust these under Home> More options menu  Settings > Detection settings.


How loud is the siren?

The built-in siren reaches up to 85-90 dB at 1 meter, about as loud as a smoke alarm.


What Wi-Fi security protocols does the floodlight camera support? 

The floodlight camera supports modern security standards for a safe connection: WPA, WPA2, and WPA3.


Does it work with Alexa or Google?

Yes, works with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
