For setup, first follow the steps in the Installation Guide to:
- Download the Lorex Connect app.
- Create your Lorex Connect account.
- Add your floodlight camera to the app.
Once connected, use this guide to learn how to view live video, receive alerts, adjust settings, and make the most of your floodlight camera.

Home
The Home screen is the first thing you’ll see when you open the Lorex Connect app. It shows all your connected Lorex devices in one place for easy viewing and control.
From here, you can quickly view live video, access device settings, or manage features like lights, privacy mode, and notifications.
Shared Device
Share your camera with trusted family members or friends so they can access it through the Lorex Connect app. Depending on the permissions you allow, shared users can view Live View, Playback, and Events.
To share your camera, go to Settings > Share device on your camera’s image preview.
Live View & Playback
Live view lets you watch your floodlight camera in real time, while Playback allows you to review past recordings right from the Lorex Connect app.
From the Home screen, tap your camera’s thumbnail to enter Live view. You can use on-screen controls to turn on the light, talk through the camera, sound the siren, or start a manual recording. Switch to Playback anytime to browse recorded videos by date and time.
Pan Controls
Easily adjust your floodlight camera’s view to look around the area. You can move the floodlight camera left or right and save preset positions for quick access later.
To pan your floodlight camera:
- From Live view, tap
Pan.
- Tap the on-screen control pad to move the floodlight camera left or right.
- Tap
Reset pan to return the floodlight camera to its default position.
To save a preset:
- Move the floodlight camera to your preferred viewing angle.
- Tap
Save preset and give it a name (for example, “Driveway” or “Garage”).
- Your preset appears under the
Presets tab. Tap it anytime to return the floodlight camera to that view.
- To edit or delete presets, tap
Edit and choose the preset you want to change. Tap Save.
Device Settings
Each floodlight has its own settings for detection, lighting, notifications, video, audio, siren, storage, and device info.
To access device settings: From the Home tab, tap
Settings on your floodlight camera's image preview, then tap Settings again.
Detection Settings
Your floodlight camera can detect motion, people, and sound. You can also enable Auto-Tracking to follow activity.
To access detection settings: From the Home tab, tap
Settings on your floodlight camera's image preview, then tap Settings > Detection settings.
Motion Detection

- Turn Motion detection on or off.
- Set Detection sensitivity: Low (fewer alerts), Medium (recommended), High (more alerts; detects small or distant motion).
- To choose where motion is detected, draw Motion Zones:Note: Only motion that happens inside the highlighted zones will trigger alerts.
- Move: Tap and then drag to move the zone.
- Resize: Drag the points to adjust the shape of the zone.
Add: Tap to add a new zone.
Delete: Tap to remove a selected zone.
Undo: Tap to revert your last change.
Full screen: Expand the view to make zone adjustments easier.
- Tap Save when done.
- Activate siren on detection: Automatically turn on the siren when motion is detected.
Person Detection
- Turn Person Detection on or off.
- Set Detection sensitivity: Low (fewer alerts), Medium (recommended), High (more alerts; detects small or distant motion).

Sound Detection
- Turn Sound Detection on or off.
- Adjust the sound Sensitivity with the slider.
- Enable Activate light on sound to turn on the floodlights when sound is detected.
- Tap Save.
Auto-Tracking
- Turn Auto-Tracking on or off.
- When enabled, the floodlight pans automatically to follow people in view.
Light Settings
Your floodlight camera has flexible light controls so you can decide when and how the floodlights turn on.
To access light settings: From the Home tab, tap
Settings on your floodlight camera's image preview, then tap Settings > Light settings.
Light Activation
Set how your lights will be activated.
- All motion: Floodlights turn on for any motion.
- Person: Floodlights turn on for people only.
- Detection sensitivity: Adjust how much motion is needed to activate the floodlights. Move the slider lower for fewer activations, higher for more.
- Light brightness: Adjust how bright the floodlights appear. Slide left for dimmer, right for brighter.
- Light mode: Choose how the floodlights behave when triggered.
- Solid: Floodlights stay on steadily.
- Flashing: Floodlights flash on and off.
- Light duration: Set how long the floodlights stay on after being triggered (for example, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes).
- Tap Save.
Light Schedule
Create custom on/off times for your floodlight.
- Choose Sunrise or Sunset to automate lighting with local daylight hours.
- Tap + Add a schedule.
- Choose an Action:
- Turn On: Lights will automatically switch on.
- Turn Off: Lights will automatically switch off.
- Set a Fade duration: How quickly the lights fade out when turning off (For example: 30 seconds).
- Repeat every weekdays, weekends, or every day.
- Set the Time for the schedule. You can:
- Pick a specific time (12:40am/7:30 pm), or
- Select Sunrise or Sunset for automatic adjustment based on your location.For example, you can set the floodlights to turn on at sunset every day and turn off at 11:00 PM.
- Tap Save.
Managing schedules:
- Turn a schedule on/off using the switch beside it.
- Edit a schedule by tapping on it, adjusting settings, then tapping Save.
- Delete a schedule by swiping left on it.
Status LED Light
- Go to Settings > Light settings > Status LED Light.
- Turn the small Status LED Light on or off.
Your floodlight camera’s LED light tells you what’s happening:
Solid Red | This means your floodlight camera is on but hasn't been set up or connected to the Lorex Cloud yet. |
Solid Red (while resetting) | This means a factory reset is in progress. |
Flashing Green | This means your floodlight camera is ready to set up or is connecting to the Lorex Cloud. |
Flashing Red | This means your floodlight camera is connected to Wi-Fi but can't reach the internet. Check your router or modem. |
Solid Green | This means your floodlight camera is working normally. (You can turn the light off in the Lorex Connect app if you prefer.) |
Flashing Red & Green | This means a firmware update is in progress. Keep the floodlight camera powered on until it finishes. |
Notifications & Alerts
To access notifications and alerts: From the Home tab, tap
Settings on your floodlight camera's image, then tap Settings > Notifications and alerts.
- Turn Alerts on or off.
- Choose what alerts to receive: Person detection, Sound detection, or Device offline alerts.
- Event and notifications images: Include the event preview. Image previews will temporarily be stored in a secure cloud, and automatically deleted after 3 days.
- Alert tone: Choose a sound.
- Notification schedule: Choose a time when you want to receive alerts.
Video Settings
To access video settings: From the Home tab, tap
Settings on your floodlight camera's image preview, then tap Settings > Video settings.
- Video resolution: Select video quality.
- Color night vision: Enable or disable (requires sufficient ambient lighting, not recommended in low-light conditions).
- Display timestamp: Show or hide.
- Display Lorex watermark: Show or hide.
- Camera orientation: Select how your floodlight camera is physically installed so the app can display the video correctly (flip/rotate image).
- Tap Save.
Audio Settings
To access audio settings: From the Home tab, tap
Settings on your floodlight camera's image preview, then tap Settings > Audio settings.
- Adjust Speaker volume.
- Adjust Microphone sensitivity.
- Enable or disable Audio recording.
Audio recording laws vary by region. Always ensure compliance with local regulations. - Tap Save.
Siren Settings
To access siren settings: From the Home tab, tap
Settings on your floodlight camera's image preview, then tap Settings > Siren settings.
- Adjust Siren volume.
- Select Siren tone.
- Tap Save.
Storage
Your floodlight camera supports local storage (microSD card).
To access storage: From the Home tab, tap
Settings on your floodlight camera's image preview, then tap Settings > Storage.
- Device Storage (MicroSD):
- Records directly onto a microSD card (inserted into the floodlight camera).
- The app will show how much storage has been used and how much is available.
- Once the card is full, older recordings are automatically overwritten by new ones.
- Format storage: Erase all recordings (cannot be undone).
Device Info
To access device info: From the Home tab, tap
Settings on your floodlight camera's image preview, then tap Settings > Device info.
- Device name: Edit the floodlight camera’s name.
- Time Zone: Automatically match your phone’s location or manually set your region and daylight savings time.
- Firmware: Check the current version and update if needed.
- Device ID: A unique identifier for your floodlight camera in the Lorex system. Used to connect the camera to the Lorex Connect app during setup.
- Serial number: The manufacturer’s number for your specific device (useful for warranty).
- Model number: Identifies the product series (for example, FL301).
- MAC address: A unique code that identifies your device on your Wi-Fi network.
- IP address: The address your network assigns to the floodlight camera (used for internet connection).
- Wi-Fi network: See or change the Wi-Fi connection.
- Select your Wi-Fi from the list (only 2.4GHz networks are supported).
- Enter your Wi-Fi password.
- Tap Continue to connect.
- Once connected, you’ll see the current network displayed.
- Signal strength: Check if your Wi-Fi connection is strong or weak.Note: If the signal is weak, try moving your Wi-Fi router and floodlight camera closer together, or add a Wi-Fi extender to improve coverage.
- Reboot device: Restart the floodlight camera.
Remove Device
To remove device: From the Home tab, tap
Settings on your floodlight camera's image preview, then tap Settings > Remove Device to unlink the camera from your Lorex Connect account.
Events
The Events tab shows all motion, person, and sound alerts from your camera, along with important system notifications.
- Go to the
Events tab to view recent detections and alerts.
App Settings
The App Settings tab lets you manage your account, shared users, notifications, subscriptions, and general app preferences.
- Go to the
App Settings tab to view or change your account settings.
