For setup, first follow the steps in the Installation Guide to:
- Download the Lorex Connect app.
- Create your Lorex Connect account.
- Add your floodlight camera to the app.
Once connected, use this guide to learn how to view live video, receive alerts, adjust settings, and make the most of your floodlight camera.

Home
Home is the first thing you see when you open the Lorex Connect app. From here, you can view and manage all your connected devices, including your floodlight camera.
To access Home: Tap the Home icon at the bottom of the app.
View your floodlight camera
- Tap the floodlight camera thumbnail to open Live View.
- The floodlight camera thumbnail also shows the device name (for example, “Backyard”).
Quick controls on the floodlight camera thumbnail
Light: Tap to turn on the floodlights.
Slide up or down to adjust brightness.
Privacy Mode: Tap to turn Privacy Mode on or off. When on, the floodlight camera stops recording and the thumbnail turns black.
Do Not Disturb: Tap to snooze notifications for 30 minutes, 1 hour, or until the end of the day.
More options menu:
- Settings: Open all floodlight camera settings.
- Add to group: Control multiple devices together.
- Share device: Invite others to view your floodlight camera.
Other Home features
Smart Search: Quickly find recordings by typing a question.
Playback: Go to recorded videos.
Add device : Add a new Lorex Connect device.
All / Groups tabs: Switch between all devices and grouped devices.
Layout: Change how thumbnails are displayed.
Do Not Disturb: Snooze notifications for all devices.
Add to a group
Grouping lets you control multiple floodlight cameras together with shared light settings. This is helpful if you have several floodlight cameras in the same area and want their lights to turn on at the same time.
- Tap the
More options menu on a floodlight camera's thumbnail, then Add to group.
- Group name: Enter a name for the group (for example, “Backyard Lights” or “Front of House”).
- Devices: Tap to choose which floodlight cameras you want in this group, then Save.
- Group light activation: Decide when the lights turn on.
- All Motion: Activate the floodlights when motion is detected.
- Person: Activate the floodlights when a person is detected.
- Sound: Activate the floodlights when a sound is detected.
- Detection sensitivity: Set how much motion is required to turn on the floodlights.
- Lower sensitivity: Fewer triggers (good for busy streets).
- Higher sensitivity: More triggers (catches smaller or distant motion).
- Light brightness: Adjust how bright the floodlights appear.
- Light mode: Choose whether the floodlights stay solid or flash when activated.
- Solid: Floodlights stay on steadily.
- Flashing: Floodlights flash on and off (good for drawing attention).
- Light duration: Set how long the floodlights will remain on stay on after being activated.
- Group light schedule: Tap to set custom on/off times for the group.
- Tap + add a schedule.
- Action: Choose whether the schedule turns the lights On or Off.
- Fade duration: Set how quickly the lights fade when turning off.
- Repeat every: Pick the days of the week for this schedule (for example, weekdays only).
- Time: Select an exact time, or choose Sunrise/Sunset for automatic scheduling.
- Tap Save.
- Tap + add a schedule.
Share your device
Share access with trusted users to view and manage this device.
- Tap the
More options menu on a floodlight camera's thumbnail, then Share device.
- Tap + Add a shared user.
- Enter their email address.
- They must have the Lorex Connect app and an account.
- They must have the Lorex Connect app and an account.
- Set their permission:
- Guest: Access to view live video and event history. Cannot adjust device settings.
- Admin: Full access to view live video, event history, and adjust device settings.
- Tap Send invite.
Manage shared user
- View current users: See a list of everyone who has access to your devices. Tap their email to make changes.
- Change permissions: Select Admin or Guest, then Save.
- Change nickname: Tap to edit how the user is labeled in your app, then Save.
- Remove user: Scroll to the bottom, tap Remove shared user, then confirm Delete user.
- Cancel invite: If the person hasn’t accepted yet, tap their email and select Cancel invite.
Live View
Live View lets you watch your floodlight camera in real time.
To access Live View: Tap the Home icon, then tap the floodlight camera's thumbnail.
Live View controls
Resolution: Change video quality.
Audio: Mute, unmute, or adjust volume.
Fullscreen: Expand the video.
Live View / Playback tabs: Switch between Live View and Playback.
Tools below the video
Snapshot: Take a photo.
Record: Start manual recording.
Light: Turn the floodlights on/off and adjust brightness.
Siren: Activate the siren.
Talk: Use 2-Way Talk.
Respond: Send a pre-recorded quick response.
Pan: Move the floodlight camera left or right. Save or reset pan positions.
Playback
Playback lets you review past recordings.
To access playback: From Live View, tap the Playback tab, or tap the
Playback button on the Home tab.
View recordings
- Tap
Today to open the calendar and choose a date.
- Choose how to view recordings:
List View: Shows clips with thumbnail and time.
Timeline View: Shows recordings across the hours of the day.
Filters
- Filter by detection types: Motion, person, sound.
- Filter by time of day: Morning, afternoon, evening, night.
- Filter by date or range.
- Tap Apply filters.
Smart Search
Smart Search helps you quickly find recordings by typing a question.
To access Smart Search: From Live View, tap the Playback tab, then tap the
Smart Search button, or from the Home tab, tap the Smart Search button directly.
Use Smart Search
- Type a question (for example, “When did the kids get home?”).
- The app will return a list of matching events.
Smart Search tools
View: Change how results are displayed.
Sort: Choose Newest first, Oldest first, or Most relevant.
Filter: Narrow by device or date range.
History: View past search questions.
- Use

to rate search results.
Results
- Tap a video to watch.
- Tap View description for details about what’s happening in the video.
- Tap
Share or
Download to save or send the video.
Device settings
Each floodlight has its own settings for detection, lighting, notifications, video, audio, siren, storage, and device info.
To access device settings: Tap the Home icon, tap the
More options menu on your floodlight camera thumbnail, then tap Settings.
Detection settings
Your floodlight camera can detect motion, people, and sound. You can also enable Auto-tracking to follow activity.
To access detection settings: Tap the Home icon, tap the
More options menu on your floodlight camera thumbnail, then tap Settings > Detection settings.
Motion detection

- Turn Motion detection on or off.
- Set Detection sensitivity:
- Low: Fewer alerts.
- Medium (recommended): Balanced alerts.
- High: More alerts, detects small or distant motion.
- Motion Zones: Draw zones directly on the floodlight camera thumbnail to control where motion is detected.Note: Only motion that happens inside the highlighted zones will trigger alerts.
- Move: Tap and then drag to move the zone.
- Resize: Drag the points to adjust the shape of the zone.
Add: Tap to add a new zone.
Delete: Tap to remove a selected zone.
Undo: Tap to revert your last change.
Fullscreen: Expand the view to make zone adjustments easier.
- Tap Save when done.
- Activate light on detection: Automatically turn on the floodlights when motion is detected.
- Activate siren on detection: Automatically turn on the siren when motion is detected.
Person detection
- Turn Person Detection on or off.

Sound detection
- Turn Sound Detection on or off.
- Adjust the sound Sensitivity with the slider.
- Enable Activate light on sound to turn on the floodlights when sound is detected.
- Tap Save.
Auto-Tracking
- Turn Auto-Tracking on or off.
- When enabled, the floodlight pans automatically to follow people in view.
Light settings
Your floodlight camera has flexible light controls so you can decide when and how the floodlights turn on.
To access light settings: Tap the Home icon, tap the
More options menu on your floodlight camera thumbnail, then tap Settings > Light settings.
Light activation
Choose when the floodlight turns on.
- All Motion: Floodlights turn on for any motion.
- Person Only: Floodlights turn on for people only.
- Detection sensitivity: Adjust how much motion is needed to activate the floodlights. Move the slider lower for fewer activations, higher for more.
- Light brightness: Adjust how bright the floodlights appear. Slide left for dimmer, right for brighter.
- Light mode: Choose how the floodlights behave when triggered.
- Solid: Floodlights stay on steadily.
- Flashing: Floodlights flash on and off.
- light duration: Set how long the floodlights stay on after being triggered (for example, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes).
Light schedule
Create custom on/off times for your floodlight.
- Tap + Add a schedule.
- Choose an Action:
- Turn On: Lights will automatically switch on.
- Turn Off: Lights will automatically switch off.
- Set a Fade duration: How quickly the lights fade out when turning off (For example: 30 seconds).
- Repeat every weekdays, weekends, or every day.
- Set the Time for the schedule. You can:
- Pick a specific time (12:40am/7:30 pm), or
- Select Sunrise or Sunset for automatic adjustment based on your location.For example, you can set the floodlights to turn on at sunset every day and turn off at 11:00 PM.
- Tap Save.
Managing schedules:
- Turn a schedule on/off using the switch beside it.
- Edit a schedule by tapping on it, adjusting settings, then tapping Save.
- Delete a schedule by swiping left on it.
Status LED
- Turn the small LED indicator light on or off.
Your floodlight camera’s LED light tells you what’s happening:
Solid Red | This means your floodlight camera is on but hasn't been set up or connected to the Lorex Cloud yet. |
Solid Red (while resetting) | This means a factory reset is in progress. |
Flashing Green | This means your floodlight camera is ready to set up or is connecting to the Lorex Cloud. |
Flashing Red | This means your floodlight camera is connected to Wi-Fi but can't reach the internet. Check your router or modem. |
Solid Green | This means your floodlight camera is working normally. (You can turn the light off in the Lorex Connect app if you prefer.) |
Flashing Red & Green | This means a firmware update is in progress. Keep the floodlight camera powered on until it finishes. |
Notifications and alerts
To access notifications and alerts: Tap the Home icon, tap the
More options menu on your floodlight camera thumbnail, then tap Settings > Notifications and alerts.
- Turn Alerts on or off.
- Choose what alerts to receive: Person detection, Sound detection, or Device offline alerts.
- Event and notifications images: Include the event preview in the thumbnail. Thumbnail images will temporarily be stored in a secure cloud, and automatically deleted after 3 days.
- Alert tone: Choose a sound.
- Notification schedule: Choose a time when you want to receive alerts.
Video settings
To access video settings: Tap the Home icon, tap the
More options menu on your floodlight camera thumbnail, then tap Settings > Video settings.
- Video resolution: Select video quality.
- Color night vision: Enable or disable (requires sufficient ambient lighting, not recommended in low-light conditions).
- High dynamic range (HDR): Improves video quality by enhancing details in both bright and dark areas.
- Display timestamp: Show or hide.
- Display Lorex watermark: Show or hide.
- Camera orientation: Select how your floodlight camera is physically installed so the app can display the video correctly (flip/rotate image).
Audio settings
To access audio settings: Tap the Home icon, tap the
More options menu on your floodlight camera thumbnail, then tap Settings > Audio settings.
- Adjust Speaker volume.
- Adjust Microphone sensitivity.
- Enable or disable Audio recording.
Audio recording laws vary by region. Always ensure compliance with local regulations. - Tap Save.
Siren settings
To access siren settings: Tap the Home icon, tap the
More options menu on your floodlight camera thumbnail, then tap Settings > Siren settings.
- Adjust Siren volume.
- Select Siren tone.
- Tap Save.
Storage
Your floodlight camera supports both cloud storage and local storage (microSD card).
To access storage: Tap the Home icon, tap the
More options menu on your floodlight camera thumbnail, then tap Settings > Storage.
- Lorex Cloud Storage:
- Securely back up your recorded events in the cloud.
- Stores up to 30 days of events.
- Prevents older recordings from being overwritten.
- You can access your cloud recordings anytime in the app.
- Device Storage (microSD):
- Records directly onto a microSD card (inserted into the floodlight camera).
- The app will show how much storage has been used and how much is available.
- Once the card is full, older recordings are automatically overwritten by new ones.
- Format Storage: Erase all recordings (cannot be undone).
Device info
To access device info: Tap the Home icon, tap the
More options menu on your floodlight camera thumbnail, then tap Settings > Device info.
- Device name: Edit the floodlight camera’s name.
- Firmware: Check the current version and update if needed.
- Device ID: A unique identifier for your floodlight camera in the Lorex system. Used to connect the camera to the Lorex Connect app during setup.
- Serial number: The manufacturer’s number for your specific device (useful for warranty).
- Model number: Identifies the product series (for example, FL301).
- MAC address: A unique code that identifies your device on your Wi-Fi network.
- IP address: The address your network assigns to the floodlight camera (used for internet connection).
- Wi-Fi network: See or change the Wi-Fi connection.
- Select your Wi-Fi from the list (only 2.4GHz networks are supported).
- Enter your Wi-Fi password.
- Tap Continue to connect.
- Once connected, you’ll see the current network displayed.
- Signal strength: Check if your Wi-Fi connection is strong or weak.Note: If the signal is weak, try moving your Wi-Fi router and floodlight camera closer together, or add a Wi-Fi extender to improve coverage.
- Remove device: Unlink the floodlight camera from your account.
Events
Events shows all motion, person, and sound alerts from your floodlight camera, as well as system notifications.
To access events: Tap the Events icon at the bottom of the app.
Alerts
- Tap a device to see its list of events.
- Each event shows a thumbnail preview, detection type, time, and a red dot if it hasn't been viewed yet.
- Tap an event to open Playback.
Quick actions on an event:
- Swipe left to Share or Delete.
- Tap the
More options menu to Mark all as read, Delete all, or Edit.
Playback from events
When you tap an event, it opens in the Playback screen.
- Use the controls to play, pause, or adjust playback speed.
- Scroll through the timeline or event list to jump between recordings.
- Tap Today to narrow down results by detection type or time of day.
Filters
Filters make it easy to find the clips you care about.
- Detection types: Choose Motion, Person, or Sound.
- Time of day: Morning, Afternoon, Evening, or Night.
- Tap Apply filters to update your list.
Sharing events
You can share or save a video clip from an event.
- Tap Share to open sharing options.
- Choose Save Video, Save to Files, or send through apps like Messages or Mail.
Editing events
- Tap Edit in the
More options menu.
- Select multiple events, then choose:
- Mark as read: Clear red dots.
- Delete: Remove selected events.
System
System shows account- and device-related notifications, such as:
- Shared user invites.
- Shared access revoked.
- Other system updates.
App settings
App settings lets you manage your account, subscriptions, and overall app preferences.
To access app settings: Tap the Person icon at the bottom of the app.
Account and security
- Account settings: View and update your name, email, and phone number.
- Privacy & security: Change your password, enable Face ID login, or export your account info.
- App language: Choose the language for the app (English, French, or Spanish).
Device and sharing
- Shared users: Manage who has access to your devices. Add, remove, or adjust permissions for Admins and Guests.
- Manage subscriptions: View or update your Lorex Cloud storage plan and other app services.
Media and notifications
- Snapshots & recordings: Browse, view, or delete saved photos and video clips.
- Notifications & alerts: Control when you receive push notifications. Set schedules to avoid alerts at certain times.
- Home and Away modes: Customize app behavior when you’re home vs. away (for example, snooze alerts when home).
Support and info
- Emergency monitoring: Access additional safety features (if available in your region).
- FAQ & product support: Get help articles and troubleshooting steps.
- Submit a tip to Crimestoppers: Share information securely with authorities.
- About: See app version, clear cache, view privacy policy, and terms of service.
- Log out: Sign out of the Lorex Connect app on your device. (This does not delete your account or devices.)
