Setup Settings:

How do I reset my camera?

  1. Remove the reset cover from the back of your camera. It is easier to do this by removing the charging cover and using it as a handle.
  2. Press and hold the reset button down for 3 to 5 seconds until you hear the resetting confirmation.

How can I optimize the placement of my camera?

Here are some strategic camera placement tips to ensure optimal coverage.

  • Entry Points: Install your cameras near entry points such as doors, if you want to see who is entering and exiting. 

  • Avoid Obstructions: Identify critical viewpoints that offer a clear line of sight. Avoid obstacles within your home that could obstruct your camera's view. 

  • Consider Lighting Conditions: Be mindful of lighting conditions, ensuring your camera is not pointing directly into bright light sources. Position your camera to take advantage of natural or existing lighting for optimal image quality.

  • Camera Height: Install your cameras at an optimal height to deter tampering by children and pets while providing a clear view.

  • Camera Tilt and Angle: Tilt your camera slightly downward to capture facial features and minimize the risk of glare. Experiment with different angles to find the best view.

  • Compliance with Laws: Be aware of privacy laws and regulations related to surveillance cameras in your region. Avoid pointing your cameras directly into neighboring properties.

How do I install my camera?

How can I troubleshoot connectivity issues?

How do I replace/Insert an SD card?

On the back of the camera, insert and press on your SD card until you feel it click into place. To remove it, gently press on the SD card until it pops out.

How do I take a snapshot?

  1. Launch the Lorex Connect App.
  2. Tap on your camera's thumbnail.
  3. Tap Snapshot
  4. Save the Snapshot to your device.

How do I take a Recording?

  1. Launch the Lorex Connect App.
  2. Tap on your camera's thumbnail.
  3. Tap Recording and tap it again to end the recording.
  4. Save the recording to your device.


How do I turn on the light?

  1. Launch the Lorex Connect App.
  2. Tap on your camera's thumbnail.
  3. Tap Light and tap it again to turn it off.

How do I turn on the siren?

  1. Launch the Lorex Connect App.
  2. Tap on your camera's thumbnail.
  3. Tap Siren and tap it again to turn it off.

How do I use two-way-talk?

  1. Launch the Lorex Connect App.
  2. Tap on your camera's thumbnail.
  3. Tap Talk and speak into your microphone.

How do I use respond through the app?

  1. Launch the Lorex Connect App.
  2. Tap on your camera's thumbnail.
  3. Tap Respond and choose a preset response or create a new one.

How do I configure Detection Settings

  1. Launch the Lorex Connect App.
  2. Tap the ... in the top right corner of your camera's thumbnail.
  3. Tap Device Settings.
  4. Tap Detection Settings.
  5. Make your desired changes.

How do I configure Light Settings

  1. Launch the Lorex Connect App.
  2. Tap the ... in the top right corner of your camera's thumbnail.
  3. Tap Device Settings.
  4. Tap Light Settings and choose Light Activation or Light Schedule.
  5. For Light Activation, select if lights will be activated on all motion, person, and/or vehicle motion. Then select Detection Sensitivity, Light Brightness, Light Mode (flashing or solid), and Light Duration, before tapping Save.
  6. For Light Schedule, tap + add a schedule.
  7. Configure Action, Fade Duration, what days you would like the schedule to occur on, as well as the Time. Then tap Continue.

How do I configure Alerts

  1. Launch the Lorex Connect App.
  2. Tap the ... in the top right corner of your camera's thumbnail.
  3. Tap Device Settings.
  4. Tap Alerts.
  5. Configure what times of day you would like to be alerted within.

How do I configure Battery Performance

  1. Launch the Lorex Connect App.
  2. Tap the ... in the top right corner of your camera's thumbnail.
  3. Tap Device Settings.
  4. Tap Battery Performance.
  5. Choose between Power Saver Mode, and Performance Mode.

How do I configure Video Settings

  1. Launch the Lorex Connect App.
  2. Tap the ... in the top right corner of your camera's thumbnail.
  3. Tap Device Settings.
  4. Tap Video Settings.
  5. Configure Video resolution, Night Vision settings, whether to display a timestamp, and whether to display a watermark..

How do I rotate my camera's viewing angle?

  1. Launch the Lorex Connect App.
  2. Tap the ... in the top right corner of your camera's thumbnail.
  3. Tap Device Settings.
  4. Tap Video Settings.
  5. Tap camera orientation.
  6. Choose whether the camera will be angled right-side-up, or up-side-down.

How do I configure Audio Settings?

  1. Launch the Lorex Connect App.
  2. Tap the ... in the top right corner of your camera's thumbnail.
  3. Tap Device Settings.
  4. Tap Audio Settings.
  5. Configure Speaker volume, Microphone sensitivity, and enable or disable Audio recording. Lastly, tap Save to confirm your choices.

How do I configure Siren Settings

  1. Launch the Lorex Connect App.
  2. Tap the ... in the top right corner of your camera's thumbnail.
  3. Tap Device Settings.
  4. Tap Siren Settings.
  5. Configure the Siren Volume, and select a Siren tone. Then tap Save to confirm,

As a device owner: How do I share and manage devices?

  1. Open the camera settings: In the Lorex Connect app, tapMore optionsSettings on your camera’s image preview, then tap Share device.
  2. Set permissions: Choose which features the shared user can access:
    • Live View (always on – cannot be disabled)
    • Playback
    • Talk
    • Events
    • PTZ (only for cameras that can pan or tilt)
  3. Tap Next when finished.
  4. Enter the user’s email: Type the email linked to their Lorex Connect app account. Then tap Send and Confirm.
  5. Notification sent: The invited user will get an app notification and an email to accept the share.

Manage Shared Users

  • Go to App Settings > Shared user > Share a device.
  • Use the tabs:
    • Shared device: Shows who you’ve shared with and the devices they can access.
    • Accepted device: Shows devices that others have shared with you.
  • Edit permissions: Tap a shared user, choose the device, then tap Edit permissions. Adjust and tap Save.
  • Rename shared users: Tap their name, update it, then tap the Save icon.
  • Remove a shared user: From the Shared device tab, tap Delete, select users (or Select all), then confirm deletion.
  • Quick share: You can also share directly from a specific camera by tapping Settings > Share device.


As a shared user: How do I accept and use shared devices?

  1. Create an account: You must have a Lorex Connect app account. If not, download the app and follow the setup steps in Getting Started & Home.
  2. Receive an invite: The device owner will share access using your account email. You’ll get an app notification when invited.
  3. Accept the shared device: Tap the notification or go to App settings > Shared users > Share a device > Accepted device.
  4. Tap Unaccepted device, select the device, then tap Accept. The shared camera will now appear under Accepted device and on your Home screen.
  5. Access and control your shared camera: Once accepted, you can use the camera based on the permissions granted by the device owner:
    • If you have View only access, you can tap the camera on your Home screen to watch Live View.
    • If you have additional permissions (like Playback, Talk, Events or PTZ), you can also review recordings, speak through the camera, review alerts, or control movement directly in the app.

Manage or Remove Shared Devices

  • From the Accepted device tab, tap a shared camera, rename the device owner or tap Delete at the bottom to remove it from your account.
Shared users can access features like Live View, Playback, and Events depending on the permissions granted by the device owner. For help using these features, see the Live View & Playback and Events guides.

Does my camera have a built-in microphone for audio recording?

Yes.

What storage does my camera offer?

  1. Built-in Storage: A microSD card can be inserted for independent recording. Data can be accessed through your camera using a web browser but will not be uploaded to the NVR or to the cloud for mobile app viewing.

  2. Cloud Storage: The primary storage solution is Lorex Cloud storage. The Lorex Cloud storage serves as a centralized hub for managing and storing video data from multiple cameras. Lorex Cloud storage is included in a Lorex Cloud subscription.
