Thank you for choosing Lorex. With the Lorex Connect app, you can view live video, manage settings, and stay in control of your SL301 Series - 2K Wi-Fi Smart Lightbulb Pan-Tilt Camera from anywhere.

For setup, first follow the steps in the Installation Guide to: 

  • Download the Lorex Connect app. 
  • Create your Lorex Connect account. 
  • Add your floodlight camera to the app.

Once connected, use this guide to learn how to view live video, receive alerts, adjust settings, and make the most of your lightbulb camera.

Important: App screens may look different depending on your device model, firmware version, and app updates. The instructions below are meant as a general guide.

Home

The Home screen is the first thing you’ll see when you open the Lorex Connect app. It shows all your connected Lorex devices in one place for easy viewing and control.

From here, you can quickly view live video, access device settings, or manage features like lights, privacy mode, and notifications.

Shared Device

Share your camera with trusted family members or friends so they can access it through the Lorex Connect app. Depending on the permissions you allow, shared users can view Live View, Playback, and Events.

To share your camera, go to Settings > Share device on your camera’s image preview.

Live View & Playback

Live view lets you watch your floodlight camera in real time, while Playback allows you to review past recordings right from the Lorex Connect app.

From the Home screen, tap your camera’s thumbnail to enter Live view. You can use on-screen controls to turn on the light, talk through the camera, sound the siren, or start a manual recording. Switch to  Playback anytime to browse recorded videos by date and time.

Pan & Tilt Controls

Easily adjust your lightbulb camera’s view to look around the area. You can move the camera or save preset positions for quick access later.

To pan or tilt your camera:

  1. From Live view, tap Pan & Tilt.
  2. Tap the on-screen control pad to move the camera left, right, up, or down.
  3. Tap  Reset pan & tilt to return the camera to its default position.

To save a preset:

  1. Move the camera to your preferred view.
  2. Tap  Save preset and give it a name (for example, “Front door” or “Driveway”).
  3. Your preset appears under the  Presets tab. Tap it anytime to return the camera to that exact view.
  4. To edit or delete presets, tap  Edit and choose the preset you want to change. Tap Save.
Note: Presets are great for switching between frequently used angles, like entryways or backyard views.




Device Settings 

Each lightbulb has its own settings for detection, lighting, notifications, video, audio, siren, storage, and device info.

To access device settings: From the  Home tab, tap Settings on your lightbulb camera's image preview, then tap Settings.




Detection Settings 

Your lightbulb camera can detect motion, people, vehicle, and sound. You can also enable Auto-Tracking to follow activity.

To access detection settings: From the  Home tab, tap Settings on your lightbulb camera's image preview, then tap Settings > Detection settings.


Motion Detection

  • Turn Motion detection on or off. 
  • Set Detection sensitivity: Low (fewer alerts), Medium (recommended), High (more alerts; detects small or distant motion).
  • Motion Zones: Draw zones directly on the lightbulb camera's image preview to control where motion is detected.
    Note: Only motion that happens inside the highlighted zones will trigger alerts.

    • Move: Tap and then drag to move the zone.
    • Resize: Drag the points to adjust the shape of the zone.
    •  Add: Tap to add a new zone. 
    •  Delete: Tap to remove a selected zone. 
    •  Undo: Tap to revert your last change. 
    •  Full screen: Expand the view to make zone adjustments easier.
    • Tap Save when done.
  • Activate siren on detection: Automatically turn on the siren when motion is detected.

 

Person Detection

  • Turn Person detection on or off. 
  • Set Detection sensitivity: Low (fewer alerts), Medium (recommended), High (more alerts; detects small or distant motion).
  • Motion Zones: Draw zones directly on the lightbulb camera's image preview to control where a person is detected.
    Note: Only motion that happens inside the highlighted zones will trigger alerts.

Vehicle Detection

  • Turn Vehicle detection on or off.

  • Motion Zones: Draw zones directly on the lightbulb camera's image preview to control where a vehicle is detected.
    Note: Only motion that happens inside the highlighted zones will trigger alerts.

    •  Add: Tap to add a new zone.
    •  Delete: Tap to remove a selected zone.

    • Tap Save when done. 
  • Activate siren on detection: Automatically turn on the siren when a vehicle is detected.


Sound Detection

  • Turn Sound detection on or off. 
  • Adjust the sound Sensitivity with the slider. 
  • Enable Activate light on sound to turn on the lightbulb when sound is detected.
  • Turn on Sound detection alerts to get notified whenever sound is detected.
  • Tap Save


Show Motion Bounding Box

  • Turn Show motion bounding box on or off.
  • Displays a visual box in Live View around a subject that is detected.


Auto-Tracking 

  • Turn Auto-tracking on or off. 
  • When enabled, the lightbulb camera pans & tilts automatically to follow people in view.




Light Settings

Your lightbulb camera has flexible lighting controls so you can choose when and how the light turns on, adjust its brightness and color temperature, or create schedules.

To access light settings: From the  Home tab, tap Settings on your lightbulb camera's image preview, then tap Settings > Light settings.

Smart Motion Activation

Use this to turn the light on automatically when detections occur.

  1. Tap Smart motion activation.
  2. Choose what turns the lightbulb on: 
    • All motion: Turns on for any motion. 
    • Person: Turns on only when a person is detected. 
    • Vehicle: Turns on only when a vehicle is detected. 
  3. Under Light settings, adjust: 
    • Detection sensitivity: Move left for fewer activations, right for more. 
    • Light brightness: Set how bright the bulb is when it turns on. 
    • Light mode: Select Solid (stays on) or Flashing
    • Light duration: Choose how long the lightbulb stays on after activation (For example, 30 sec, 1 min, 5 min). 
  4. Tap Save.
Notes:
  • Smart motion activation must be on for these settings to take effect.
  • If you prefer schedules only (no motion-based lighting), turn Smart motion activation off and use Auto lighting or Light schedule instead.


Auto Lighting

Automatically turn the light on or off based on environmental brightness (for example, it will turn on when it gets dark).

  1. Tap Configure auto-lighting schedule to set specific time ranges when auto-lighting is active.
  2. Tap + add a schedule
  3. Select From and Until times.
  4. Choose which days to repeat.
  5. Tap Save.


Light Schedule

Create custom on/off schedules or use Sunrise/Sunset.

  1. Tap Configure light schedule then + add a schedule.
  2. Choose an Action:
    • Turn on: Lights will turn on at the set time.
    • Turn off: Lights will turn off at the set time.
  3. Set a Fade duration (for example, 30 seconds).
  4. Set the Time or select Sunrise/Sunset for automatic adjustment.
  5. Choose the days to repeat.
  6. Tap Save.

Managing schedules:

  • Use the toggle to quickly turn on/turn off a schedule.
  • Tap a schedule to edit it, adjust settings, then tap Save.
  • Swipe left on a schedule to delete it.


Vacation Mode

Use vacation mode to make it look like you’re home when you’re away by automatically turning the lights on and off at random times.

  1. Tap Set up now.
  2. Turn on Vacation mode.
  3. Select the Date Range for when you’ll be away.
  4. Add or edit schedules that will run during vacation mode.
Note: When enabled, all other light schedules are temporarily disabled until Vacation Mode ends.


Light Temperature

  • Use the Light temperature slider to adjust between warm and cool white lighting.


Status LED Light

  • Turn the small Status LED light on or off.

Your lightbulb camera’s Status LED light tells you what’s happening:


Blinking SlowlyThe lightbulb camera is on but not yet set up. Open the Lorex Connect app to start setup.
Blinking Slowly (during setup)The lightbulb camera is trying to connect to Wi-Fi or the Lorex Cloud. Stay close to your router during setup.
Blinking QuicklyThe lightbulb camera is connected to Wi-Fi, but there's no internet access. Check your router or modem.
Solid GreenEverything is working! The lightbulb camera is online and ready to use. (You can turn off the Status LED light in the Lorex Connect app if you want).
Fading (resetting)The lightbulb camera is being reset to factory settings. Keep it powered on until the process finishes.
Fading (updating)The lightbulb camera is installing a firmware update. Don't unplug or turn it off until the update is complete.




Notifications and Alerts

To access notifications and alerts: From the  Home tab, tap Settings on your lightbulb camera's image preview, then tap Settings > Notifications and alerts.

  • Turn Alerts on or off. 
  • Choose what alerts to receive: Person detection, Vehicle detection, Sound detection, or Device offline alerts
  • Notification image previews: Include the event preview. Images will be securely stored and removed after a few days.
  • Alert tone: Choose a sound. 
  • Notification schedule: Choose a time when you want to receive alerts. Tap Save.




Video Settings

To access video settings: From the  Home tab, tap Settings on your lightbulb camera's image preview, then tap Settings > Video settings.

  • Video resolution: Select video quality. 
  • Colour night vision: Enable or disable (requires sufficient ambient lighting, not recommended in low-light conditions).
  • Wide dynamic range (WDR): Improves video quality by enhancing details in both bright and dark areas.
  • Display timestamp: Show or hide. 
  • Display Lorex watermark: Show or hide. 
  • Camera orientation: Select how your lightbulb camera is physically installed so the app can display the video correctly (flip/rotate image).




Audio Settings

To access audio settings: From the  Home tab, tap Settings on your lightbulb camera's image preview, then tap Settings > Audio settings.

  • Adjust Speaker volume
  • Adjust Microphone sensitivity
  • Enable or disable Audio recording.
    Audio recording laws vary by region. Always ensure compliance with local regulations.
  • Tap Save.




Siren Settings

To access siren settings: From the  Home tab, tap Settings on your lightbulb camera's image preview, then tap Settings > Siren settings.

  • Adjust Siren volume
  • Select Siren tone.
  • Tap Save.




Storage 

Your lightbulb camera supports local storage (microSD card).

To access storage: From the  Home tab, tap Settings on your lightbulb camera's image preview, then tap Settings > Storage.

  • Device Storage (MicroSD):
    • Records directly onto a microSD card (inserted into the lightbulb camera). 
    • The app will show how much storage has been used and how much is available. 
    • Once the card is full, older recordings are automatically overwritten by new ones.
  • Format Storage: Erase all recordings (cannot be undone).




Device Info

To access device info: From the  Home tab, tap Settings on your lightbulb camera's image preview, then tap Settings > Device info.

  • Device name: Edit the lightbulb camera’s name.
  • Time Zone: Automatically match your phone’s location or manually set your region and daylight savings time.
  • Firmware: Check the current version and update if needed. 
  • Device ID: A unique identifier for your lightbulb camera in the Lorex system. 
  • Serial number: The manufacturer’s number for your specific device (useful for warranty).
  • Model number: Identifies the product series (for example, SL301A). 
  • MAC address: A unique code that identifies your device on your Wi-Fi network.
  • IP address: The address your network assigns to the lightbulb camera (used for internet connection).
  • Wi-Fi network: See or change the Wi-Fi connection.
    • Select your Wi-Fi from the list (2.4GHz and 5GHz networks are supported). 
    • Enter your Wi-Fi password. 
    • Tap Continue to connect. 
    • Once connected, you’ll see the current network displayed.
  • Signal strength: Check if your Wi-Fi connection is strong or weak.
    Note: If the signal is weak, try moving your Wi-Fi router and lightbulb camera closer together, or add a Wi-Fi extender to improve coverage.
  • Reboot device: Restart the lightbulb camera.




Remove Device

To remove device: From the  Home tab, tap Settings on your lightbulb camera's image preview, then tap Settings > Remove Device to unlink the camera from your Lorex Connect account.

Note: Removing the device will also factory reset the camera. You’ll need to set it up again in the Lorex Connect app.




Events

The Events tab shows all motion, person, and sound alerts from your camera, along with important system notifications.

  • Go to the  Events tab to view recent detections and alerts.

App Settings

The App Settings tab lets you manage your account, shared users, notifications, subscriptions, and general app preferences.

  • Go to the App Settings tab to view or change your account settings.
